Our Story
When my husband and I first visited Australia in 2005, we fell in love with this country. We traveled from Brisbane to Sydney in a van, and we knew that we wanted to make this our home. In 2011, we made the move with our young children, and we’ve been calling Australia home ever since.
Our passion for travel and sharing our experiences with others led us to open a guesthouse at the back of our property, which we named The Forest Nest. We love meeting people from all over the world, and we are always happy to share our knowledge of Australia with our guests.
It also has been a pretty steep learning curve, especially in the last few years when the industry of short-term rental accommodation has advanced so much.
My Perfect Host was born from a vision of a thriving community of Australian STR hosts, where we can learn from each other, share experiences, and connect with local service providers, such as cleaners, photographers, and other essential businesses.
About Elena
I started hosting Airbnb guests over 11 years ago, after moving to Australia with my family. I was drawn to the concept of the sharing economy, and I saw it as a wonderful opportunity to earn some extra income while we were away visiting family in Europe.
Back then, the requirements and restrictions for Airbnb hosts were much more relaxed than they are today. However, the landscape has transformed significantly over time, and I’ve witnessed the highs and lows, experiencing everything in between.
“Being an Airbnb property manager is hard work, but being a hospitable host is a pleasure”. Hosting has changed my life—it’s not just a job, it’s a genuine passion. I love connecting with people from all over the world and sharing my knowledge of the short-term rental industry with other hosts.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my loved ones, exploring nature, and discovering new places. I am also passionate about photography and horse riding.
